Your files.
Your Spotify library.
MusicDrop prepares an MP3. Apple's Shortcuts app can download it and save it in Spotify's local folder. This is local playback, not an upload to Spotify's catalog.
1. Enable local audio in Spotify
- Install and open Spotify on your iPhone.
- Tap your profile picture, then Settings and privacy → Apps and devices. Switch Local audio files on. Allow file access if iOS asks.
- Open Apple's Files app and look under Browse → On My iPhone → Spotify. If Spotify's folder is missing, reopen Spotify after enabling local audio; do not create an unrelated folder in iCloud Drive.
2. Install or create the Shortcut once
No downloadable signed Shortcut is installed on this server. Use the manual steps below; there is no unsigned file to install.
You can also create it directly in Apple's Shortcuts app:
- Create a new shortcut and name it exactly MusicDrop Import. The name is how the import button finds it.
- Add Get Contents of URL. Set its URL to the Shortcut Input variable and the method to GET. The import button supplies the private file URL as text; do not hard-code a track URL.
- Add Save File with the downloaded contents as its input. Keep the downloaded .mp3 filename.
- Turn Ask Where To Save on. On iPhone, the folder picker only lets you browse into folders — it cannot pin a subfolder like Spotify as a fixed destination, so you choose the folder when the shortcut runs. At the first import, navigate to On My iPhone → Spotify and tap Save; iOS remembers that location for the next saves.
- Advanced: if your iOS version shows a Select or Done option in the picker's ··· menu, and you can pin On My iPhone as the location, you can also set Subpath to
Spotifyand turn Ask Where To Save off for prompt-free saves. If not, keep Ask Where To Save on — one tap per import. - Optionally add Open App → Spotify after Save File. Opening Spotify is not confirmation that the file was imported.
3. Import a track
Open your private MusicDrop link from Telegram in Safari, then tap Import to Spotify. Allow Shortcuts to run and download from this service when prompted. Confirm the destination if asked. In Spotify, open Your Library → Local Files and check that the track plays.
Automatic, prompt-free import is not guaranteed. iOS permissions, folder access and Spotify's indexing can require manual steps. Your private link expires 24 hours after the request; ask the bot for the track again if it expires. Never share a file URL or paste a bot token into a Shortcut.
Without a Shortcut
Tap Download MP3 on the track page. In Files, find the download, choose Copy or Move, and put it in On My iPhone → Spotify. Then check Spotify's Local Files. If an in-app browser cannot open Shortcuts or save the file, open the original private link in Safari.
